Blogger's Beauty Brawl Day 8: Makeup Setting Spray

13 Jun 2016

Hi, Everyone! Welcome back to Day 8 of the Brawl! For today's card, we will be reviewing makeup setting sprays! I'm very well-versed in the world of sprays because I only really started using them not too long ago, but I can tell you that they are a god sent in the world of dry skin! I've only used drugstore setting sprays, so this was a major splurge for me and a part of my graduation gift to myself. I've quickly fallen in love with the stuff so let's check out what's I've picked!

The makeup setting spray that I have picked is MAC's Prep and Prime Fix + Spray. I'm pretty new to this product but spent years practically drooling over it since the beginning of my makeup obsession days, and as I've been using it more, I've learned that it's not just an amazing setting spray, but also quite the catch-all product for just about everything in my makeup routine! Now I know that there is a lot of debate over the "real use" for Fix +, however, it's been working great for me for this purpose, so I want to bring you my experiences. Let's take a look at the card!

Product: I have to say that I was quite surprised by the amount of product that came in this bottle. In the past, I have used both ELF's setting spray and L'Oreal's Infallible Setting Spray, which look so tiny compared to the Fix +. As I've mentioned before on my blog, I have very dry skin on my face. Even with the best moisturiser possible, my makeup always seems to find a way to look like I've been in the Sahara desert, which is totally not the look I want to go for. I've been using this spray both after powders and as a finishing touch, and my skin has been noticeably different! It looks so dewy and healthy without looking greasy, and I have been really enjoying that. As a side note, it's also been great to amp up eyeshadows and blushes that may not be as pigmented!

I really don't have anything bad to say about their packaging! Some may disagree, however, I love how simplistic the packaging is! A lot of product that you see in stores today is very colourful, so having something that is very neutral on my shelf has been great. It definitely makes it look so much more expensive than it is. The bottle itself isn't heavy making it perfect to spray on with one hand. The only issue I have with my bottle is that sometimes the part that presses down on the lid gets stuck when I'm spraying my face, but that's a quick fix. I only marked it down two points because of this as it might just be user error, or dirt making it stick.

This product will run you $26 dollars for 3.4 fluid ounces. At first glance, this might seem pricey, however, I've only needed one or two pumps to cover my whole face, and I'm good to go. If you're worried about wasting product, I can tell you that after two months of everyday use I haven't even made a dent in the amount of product. Heck yes! Another thing to consider is how versatile the product is. I paid around 15 dollars for L'Oreal's setting spray and that was only good for what the bottle intended. While it made my skin less dry, I feel like MAC does such a better job, so this wasn't that much more of a jump for something so amazing. For something that can make my shadows go on more smoothly, even out powdery skin, and leave my face feeling refreshed, this is definitely a situation where the benefits out weight the cons. They also make a $12 dollar bottle that I could see lasting a pretty decent amount of time too if that's more budget friendly.

I can't believe I only have two more reviews of the Brawl to share with you! I'm pretty excited to share my next product, as I had to go on a mission to three different places just to find the right one. I hope to see everyone back tomorrow for the next review!
